Bee
Nora Morales

Just a sunny morning in any place at any given time.
A bee fell into a pond. It was distracted remembering the warmth
and the scent of the flowers it had found the evening before.
The water in the pond had soaked its wings,
Making them heavy so she couldn´t fly back to her hive.
The bee got scared and started crying for help.
Another bee from the same hive that was passing by heard her cries.
It came close and asked: “what can I do to help? I´m just a bee”
The bee asked for it to alert the other bees.
So the second bee went off flying quickly towards the hive,
But it didn´t know what to do to get the other bee´s attention.
It figured it she could make traces with his body by moving in front of the sunlight, so that his shadow could show the others the path to where their partner was.

So the bee danced and danced with her best spirit, grabbing the attention of some workers that were lounging around. After reading her instructions, the whole group got to the spot where the first bee was stuck.

When they got there, they told the bee they were still not enough of them to set it free from the water, so they went to get more bees.
They went back to the hive and danced the same dance, now with more zeal, getting the attention of more and more bees. In the end, a big group joined the taskforce, and they managed to rescue our bee friend.

This is how the bees, through this dance, invented the map language, years before us humans did.
